Responsible for:
Directly - Contracts & Procurement Officers, Housing Management Officers.
Indirectly - Other more junior staff within the directorate.

Purpose of the job role:

1. To manage the team to deliver a good supply of suitable, well maintained temporary accommodation, overseeing the procurement and renewal of accommodation to fulfil this, and managing contracts with suppliers across all accommodation types rigorously and effectively.

2. To play a full role in the management of the Housing Demand Directorate and the company as a whole, contributing to the directorate's work and its corporate role within Homes for Haringey.

Duties and responsibilities (Management):

Focus on Customers

1. Maintain an understanding of the customer base and its requirements

2. Help develop and improve services, integrating good practice with the service delivery model

3. Manage customer expectations of the service always seeking to meet or exceed those expectations.

4. Maintain the highest standards of professional practice.

5. Collect quality and performance information; feeding that back as required; resolving customer complaints effectively.

Focus on People

6. Promote a culture where diversity and inclusion are valued and harnessed to the benefit of customers and employees

7. Communicate effectively internally and externally with stakeholders and customers; setting out the Company's vision and always engaging with integrity.

8. Working collaboratively with partners to deliver business objectives.

9. Coaching the Contracts & Procurement team, and other teams within Housing Demand so as to develop their competence (behavioural and technical).

Duties and Responsibilities (Housing Demand)

10. Lead & manage staff, delivering induction, supervision, training, appraisal and sickness monitoring effectively and consistently, and in a manner which guides and enables staff to fulfil their roles.

11. Identify, manage and deliver project work to develop the Housing Demand service and take forward innovation and new opportunities for service delivery.

12. Work collaboratively with colleagues and service functions across the directorate to ensure that efficient services which are coordinated to address housing need are available to Haringey residents.

13. Lead staff to deliver a range of tasks within a function area.

Duties and Responsibilities (Housing Supply)

14. Lead the team to inspect, manage and retain existing temporary accommodation units and develop and support the introduction of new initiatives, fostering excellent working relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to maximise the supply of suitable properties for use as temporary accommodation.

15. Manage new and existing contracts and performance with suppliers, agents and landlords to deliver good quality temporary accommodation and ensure that properties provided are well managed and are maintained in line with contractual requirements.

16. Provide detailed and robust technical support to the directorate on private sector property standards and manage service delivery to address dilapidation and disrepair, provide advice to Landlords and stakeholders on repairs, deal with insurance claims and conduct void works inspections.

17. Maintain consistent, accurate and up to date records for the team, incorporating analysis of performance and ensuring that performance management information is readily available.

18. To undertake any other duties consistent with the basic objectives of the post.
