Job description:
Provide technical support to the operational team, solving mechanical plant related issues.

Play an active role in plant safety schemes such as Near Misses or Incident Investigations, provide support where required and implement any recommendations arising from such schemes.

 Ensure maintenance team compliance with appropriate Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental standards, policies and procedures.

 Assist in delivering the Maintenance Teams KPI's.

 Maintain record keeping for pressure vessels, hydraulic hoses and pressure relief valves.

 Develop and implement engineering procedures, instructions, method statements and guidance documents

 To assist with scheduled and unscheduled outage activities as required, to ensure all aspects of Mechanical work are completed to program, in a safe and efficient manner

 Assist in delivering the Maintenance Teams KPI's.

Qualifications

 Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship Scheme

 ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Skills

 Organisational and planning skills

 Be able to absorb information on scope, collate information, and make judgment on the condition of existing equipment and installations

 Interpersonal skills/develop and maintain good working relationships

 Computer literate and able to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and MS Project

Experience

 5 years engineering experience associated with:

o Generic mechanical system design

o High pressure steam systems

o Mechanical applications for process industry

o Engineering design for Hazardous areas

o Preparation of work scope packages for installation and commissioning

o Various valves and pump types

o Commissioning

Behavioural competencies

 Explicit time management, with the ability to prioritise work against deadlines.

 Be able to articulate accurate and timely responses and be able to request clarifications and explanations where necessary.

Technical competencies

 Practical and proven understanding of the importance of health and safety associated with mechanical engineering through construction, operation, inspection and maintenance

 Knowledge of the CDM Regulations

 Ability to generate risk assessments and method statements as required for the process equipment

 Broad knowledge of Mechanical equipment and its functional application
