Post Title: Building Surveyor

In essence the team purpose is to provide professional project services and support and offer value added services

to our customers to improve customer satisfaction, retention and build loyalty in a profitable way. The Company will

strive to continuously improve processes to ensure the greatest return and benefit to both the Company and the

customer. The team purpose is to build trust in the relationship by providing timely and accurate information, order

advice and potential solutions to customer problems.


The primary purpose of the position is to perform surveyor and project duties. You will carry out surveying of

buildings to determine the condition, identify defects and propose repairs, to include preparing scheme designs with

costings, specifications and programmes for completion of projects. You will be overseeing projects through to

completion and are required to provide a full design management function. You will be responsible for ensuring

projects meet the customer's required standards and quality. Involvement in the production of technical drawings

and sketches from initial concept to final drawings and for client information (tenders, etc).

First Level Responsibility:

 Working throughout the UK and Northern Ireland to carry out building condition surveys

 Prepare reports, plans, scheme designs and specifications with costings including parts/materials lists,

programmes for completion of projects and specification of works

 Travelling to customers or suppliers and evaluating feasibility of design or production

 Preparing early stage budgets and detailed cost plans

 Advise on energy efficiency, environmental impact and sustainable construction

 Deal with planning applications and advising on property legislation and building regulations

 Assess and design buildings to meet the needs of people with disabilities

 Negotiating to ensure budgets are not exceeded

 Working on a wide variety of building projects and structures

 Manage projects and/or multi-disciplinary teams

 Allocating work to subcontractors

 Ensure good working practice, including Risk Assessment and Health & Safety

 Ensure all documentation is completed accurately, on time, and in required Company format

 Follow all Policies and Procedures to ensure ISO Compliance is maintained

Second Level Responsibility:

 To attend any and all relevant training as required.

 Attend regular team meetings as required.

 Other tasks determined by your Line Manager.

Person Specification

 Experience in a similar Construction role essential

 The ability to build and maintain good working relationships with fellow team members and customers

 Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential

 Be able to work well as a member of the team, taking steps to improve team results, behaviour or relationships

 Good attention to detail and ability to manage a varied workload

 You must have energy and be able to energise those around you

 An excellent understanding of Microsoft Excel, and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook. Ability to use MS Project is desirable

 Numeracy skills are essential

 CSCS Card and clean Driving Licence essential
