Job description:

Our client is a family-run agricultural contracting and engineering business, based near Saxmundham in East Suffolk. They operate a fleet of mobile seed processing units during the harvest period and manufacture their own range of specialist commercial grain cleaning machinery for sale both in the UK and for export. Increased manufacturing orders mean they require another experienced fabrication engineer to join their busy workshop.

Outline of Post:

-We are looking for an experienced and skilled fabrication engineer to work within our clients existing workshop team.

-The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of experience in steel, stainless steel and aluminium, MIG & TIG welding, sheet metal work, cutting, folding and marking out.

-The successful candidate must be able to accurately read engineering drawings, and be able to demonstrate experience of solving problems with creative and effective engineering skills.

-The successful candidate will be keen to work as part of a team that develops and maintains extremely high standards

Key Responsibilities:


-Under the direction of the Production Manager

-Assist the Production Manager in the efficient delivery of quality components built on time and to budget

-Construct, repair and modify both new and used machinery

-Comply with current standards regarding HSE and insurance, particularly that the workshop areas comply and are left clean and tidy after work. Be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of other members of the team and for health and safety within the workshop area.


-Assist in the maintenance and safe use of all workshop equipment

Person Specification:


-Willingness to embrace the values of a growing business

-At least 3 years experience working with steel & aluminium MIG welding

-Appreciation and understanding of all related workshop disciplines

-Demonstrable strong technical skills in metal work including ability to use appropriate hand and machine power tools

-Ability to offer creative solutions to realise a design or solve a problem with available resources

-Good interpersonal and communication skills

-Fast and efficient working, self-motivation

-Ability to work with a wide range of individuals

-Numerate and literate


-Clean driving licence

Terms and Conditions

This is a full time post

Place of work: Saxmundham, Suffolk, but travel to attend our mobile machinery or static installations a possibility.

Working hours: 7.30am - 4.30pm weekdays

Extra Hours usually available

Salary offered between £25,000 to £30,000 which is dependant on the successful candidates experience.
Salary: 30000 per annum
