JOB SUMMARY

To manage and control the day to day operation of your branch or branches in accordance with best practice, as laid down by the Group.

To Manage and control all staff within your branch or branches and those on funerals in an ethical and lawful manner in line with the Group's policies and procedures, with special attention to health and safety.

To improve funeral numbers, market share, and profitability of the branch or branches under your control.

To take a proactive role in the improvement of sales of Monumental Masonry and Prepaid Funerals.

To provide our clients with the highest possible level of service, whether acting as a Funeral Director or as a Funeral Arranger, on all occasions.

MAIN DUTIES

* You will be expected to improve your branch's market share.

o By overseeing and, if necessary, becoming involved within the local community in whatever way possible, within the guidelines laid down by the Directors.

o Joining clubs and associations within the area.

o Becoming personally involved in local public relations exercises.

o Putting forward to the Directors ideas and plans to improve public awareness of the company in general and your branch in particular.

These activities may require a commitment to working outside normal office hours.

* You will be responsible for the profitability of your branch or branches and you will be expected to maintain control over, and look for ways of, lowering personnel costs, transport costs and general expenses, in line with the budgets as approved by the Directors.

* You will be responsible for improving the financial performance of your branch(es), by ensuring you and your staff

o Offer our clients the full range of our products and by making full use of the coffin selection rooms where available.

o Offer our clients funeral transportation

o Assist our clients in choosing floral tributes

o Assist our clients in placing obituary notices

o Assist our clients in preparing service sheets

* You will assist the senior management in setting a realistic and achievable budget, which will include funeral numbers, income per funeral and staff costs.

* You will maintain a careful watch on your local competitors' prices, ranges and any additional services they are providing, to give the Group the best possible competitive advantage.

* You will personally arrange as many funerals at your branch or clients' homes as possible and you will also oversee all funerals arranged by your staff, ensuring the highest level of service, support, care and professionalism is provided to our clients.

* You will be responsible for all funeral operational staff that from time to time come under your control, ensuring that they carry out their duties to the standard expected and deal with any failures with in the disciplinary code as set down in the Group Handbook.

* Reporting as a matter of urgency to the Head of Branch Network any failure of any staff member to carryout their duties in the manner expected.

* You will improve and develop all staff under your control by training, motivating and supporting them.

* You will ensure that both you and your staff check the proper presentation of the deceased and the coffin as soon as practical after delivery to your branch and certainly before allowing clients to view, reporting any problems as a matter of urgency to the Logistics Supervisor.

* You will be responsible for the good order and repair of your branch ensuring that it is clean and tidy at all times and report any and all damage or faults to the senior management as soon as practicable.

* You will ensure that all the administration paperwork and book keeping in the branch under your control is completed accurately and within the required time scale.

* You will be responsible for the collection and control of any and all debts within your branch, in accordance with the Group's control procedures.

* You will deal with client complaints in line with Group policy, in a timely and effective manner to ensure a satisfactory outcome for both client and the Group, keeping senior management informed at all times.

* You may be required to cover other funeral branch offices from time to time.

* You will make yourself aware of, and abide by, the rules and codes of conduct laid down by the Group. This is particularly important in the case of health and safety and fire procedures.

* You will behave in a professional manner at all times and assist and co-operate with all other members of staff.

* You are expected to maintain the highest standards of conduct, appearance and best practice within the Group at all times.

* You are required to carryout any and all other duties as may be directed or specified by the management from time to time to assist in the smooth running of the business
