Job description:
Our highly successful client based in the Cambridge region is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer.

Role Purpose



Taking briefs from the Team Leader/Senior and Executive Engineers and working under own initiative in delivering elements of the designs for large and complex projects from inception to completion, as part of a team.

Assisting on projects in order to create integrated systems, supporting a holistic approach to the delivery of building designs that represent HL as a technically competent and reliable service provider. Working in a coordinated way with other professionals, developing and maintaining effective internal and external relationships.



Key Deliverables

* Overall, delivering projects and design outputs on time, to contract and within budget
* Ensuring work delivered to HL's quality standards
* Ensure integration with all other building services, following a holistic approach to delivering a building design



Key Responsibilities

* Working as part of a project team and taking direction in order to deliver projects from inception to completion
* Undertaking detailed design tasks
* Able to work with and have an appreciation of the integration of other construction professionals' requirements for the project
* Having an appreciation of UK and EU regulations, design guides, etc to ensure that work undertaken is relevant and applicable
* Developing and producing engineering specifications, equipment schedules and drawings, ensuring quality and technical quality standards are met
* Contributing to producing reports, guidance notes and general correspondence ensuring quality and technical quality standards are met
* Effectively utilising and checking work undertaken by others on Amtec and/or Hevacomp, IES, Microsoft office and other approved software
* Ensuring open communication among all project team members ensuring feedback is provided and acted upon efficiently in a timely manner
* Assisting with reviewing the installation of engineering systems, witnessing selected testing and commissioning results
* Ensuring that all work under their control is undertaken to relevant and applicable UK and EU regulations, design guides etc
* Occasionally attending, along with a Senior or Executive Engineer, design team meetings, design workshops, client meetings, site meetings, pre-contract and post-contract meetings
* Effectively delivering the required output to meet timescales agreed with the Team Leader/Senior and Executive Engineers.



Person Specification

Degree qualified and having completed several projects from inception to competition

* Preferably a graduate with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in building services design.
* Working towards Chartered Engineer status
* Good technical knowledge in primary discipline of mechanical or electrical building services design.
* Good understanding of secondary discipline.
* Ability and commitment to effectively deliver to demanding timescales.
* Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
* IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages i.e. Amtec, Hevacomp, IES and Microsoft office
* Able to work under own initiative.
* Able to work with and have an appreciation in the integration of other construction professionals' requirements for the project.
* Professional, personable and competent manner
* Able to positively work as part of a team.
* Ability and commitment to effectively deliver to demanding timescales.
* Good organisational and planning skills
* Able to develop effective client and fellow professional relationships at a project level for future business growth.
Salary: 40000 per annum
