Back to Work? Here’s How Hunterskill Recruitment Can Help You Gain Confidence, Skills, and Financial Support
Re-entering the job market – whether after a break or for the very first time – can feel overwhelming. At Hunterskill Recruitment, we understand how quickly industries evolve and how challenging it can be to keep pace with the skills, qualifications and experience employers now expect. But we also know that, with the right support, preparation, and guidance, you can take that next step with confidence – and we’re here to help you every step of the way.
From free career advice, CV support, and hands-on job search assistance, to helping you access grants and training schemes, we specialise in connecting jobseekers with the right opportunities across Suffolk and beyond – including in-demand roles in driving, logistics, warehousing, office administration and catering.
Upskill, Retrain and Rebuild Confidence
You don’t need to have every qualification listed in a job description to succeed. Many of the sectors we work with are actively hiring and provide on-the-job training – but upskilling yourself can make you even more employable. If you’re unsure where to start, register with Hunterskill and speak to our friendly consultants. We’ll help you:
- Identify roles suited to your strengths
- Access courses and training
- Build your CV and apply with confidence
If you’re ready to get started, don’t forget to upload your CV today – it only takes a few minutes.
Will Starting Work Affect Your Benefits?
A common concern for job seekers is how starting a job may impact their benefits. The reality is, you may still be eligible to receive some support, depending on your circumstances. For instance:
- Voluntary work and part-time hours may still allow you to claim certain benefits.
- Your Jobcentre Plus work coach can guide you through the transition to ensure your finances are stable.
There are also government-funded support schemes available to help cover the costs of moving into work, including the Flexible Support Fund (FSF), which may assist with:
- Travel expenses for interviews or your first days at work
- Workwear and equipment
- Childcare costs during your first month in employment
If you’re receiving Universal Credit or other benefits, speak with your work coach about applying for the FSF.
Can You Apply for a Job Grant?
Yes – Job Grants are one-off, tax-free payments that help bridge the gap between your final benefit payment and your first wage. They can also help with purchasing uniforms or equipment.
You may be eligible if:
- You’ve been receiving certain benefits for 26 weeks or more
- Your new role is at least 16 hours per week (or you’re increasing your current hours)
These payments are discretionary, so Jobcentre Plus advisers will determine if you’re entitled. If you’re unsure, let us know – we’re happy to offer advice during your job search.
Support for Jobseekers with Disabilities or Long-Term Health Conditions
At Hunterskill, we’re committed to supporting job seekers of all backgrounds and abilities. If you live with a disability or long-term health condition, you may be eligible for the Access to Work programme, which provides:
- Grants to cover specialist equipment or adaptations
- Paid transport for work or interviews
- Communication support (e.g. interpreters or note-takers)
- Bespoke workplace advice for you and your employer
You may also be offered tailored support plans, including flexible working, phased return options, and mentoring or job coaching – all designed to ensure you thrive in your new role.
Charities That Can Help You Get Back to Work
In addition to our services at Hunterskill Recruitment, several charities and organisations provide practical support for specific groups of jobseekers:
- The Kings Trust (Formerly The Princes Trust) – Helping young people aged 16–30 with mentoring, training and work experience.
- Royal British Legion – Support for veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces.
- The Salvation Army (Employment Plus) – Free access to computers, CV help and job advice.
- Papworth Trust – Focused support for people with disabilities, including training and work placements.

If you’re unsure which organisation is right for your needs, our team is here to help point you in the right direction.
